Sea Monkeys are pets that come alive right before your eyes. They live in a state of suspended animation until you add them to the water, where they come alive as tiny little swimming monkey like creatures. Sea Monkeys are usually sold in hatching kits for pet aquariums.
What are Sea Monkeys?
Sea Monkeys are actually Brine Shrimp. They live in a state of suspended animation until they are added to water and come alive, a process known as cryptobiosis. Sea Monkeys (the product) was invented by Harold von Braunhut in 1957 and named Sea Monkeys based on the resemblance to the animals tails to those of monkeys, and the fact that they live in salt water.
